This passed weekend myself and Giselle Melrose of The Melrose Experience headed out to California for some much needed change of scenery. The entire week we pretty much photographed different people. While enjoying some much needed down time on the Santa Monica Beach , I glanced to my right and saw gorgeous melanin enriched young women soaking up some sun. Giselle initiated the conversation urging me to walk over and asking them too shoot, I can be very timid when doing these things simply put I overthink the outcomes. I grabbed my shirt, put it on ,headed over and introduced myself to whom i would come to know as Courtney Williams.
Courtney introduced me to her friends, I let her know who I was and what it is I do and asked if she'd be open to being photographed. I let her know I'd be right back and shuffled to the Zipcar through the warm sand to go.and grab my Canon Mark II 5D. When I returned we headed over to the light blue distressed life guard tower and started to snap away. In between frames I asked her about her background. She is a 24 year old flight attendant from Charlottesville, NC and was only in California for a few hours and decided to head to the beach. Initially, she had another destination on her itinerary but based off of a personal judgement call decided against it and landed there with me. As we continued shooting I noticed how fluid in her movements she was and asked about her modeling history. She explained that she previously did runway modeling. We wrapped after frame 46, and I shared with her the images and my contact information. All and all this impromptu shoot was really fun and I loved every bit of it. I think she should try her luck with the agencies, what do you guys think?
